The 2024 NFL Draft is in the books. While everyone wants to drool over their team’s first-round draft pick, there were six more rounds after Day 1.
Every NFL team will look at their 2024 draft class three years from now and determine whether it was a hit or miss. While the first-round pick will play a massive role in that decision, the players drafted in the middle rounds will be the difference maker.
Let’s look at the best value pick at the quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end positions during the 2024 NFL Draft.

Quarterback – Spencer Rattler
Rattler was selected in the fifth round at 150th overall by the New Orleans Saints. There were 138 players picked between the sixth quarterback (Bo Nix) and the seventh (Rattler) this year – an NFL Draft record. However, that only means the Saints got a steal. Rattler was outstanding in college, making several highlight reel plays at South Carolina. He could replace Derek Carr in a year or two under center for New Orleans.

Running Back – Ray Davis
After only four running backs got drafted on Day 2, there were six picked in the fourth round, including the former Kentucky star. Davis was selected 128th overall by the Buffalo Bills. While James Cook should remain the starter, Davis will have no trouble earning the No. 2 running back role this offseason. He is a quick and powerful runner who should complement Cook well.
🗣️"He packs a lot of quickness and power in that stout, compact frame."

Wide Receiver – Javon Baker
This year’s draft class had three elite wide receiver prospects. However, it also had several impact players slip into Day 3. Baker was a mid-fourth-round pick by the New England Patriots, getting drafted at 110th overall. After spending two years at Alabama, he transferred to UCF, ending his college career with over 1,100 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. Baker has been a draft favorite of mine since the Senior Bowl.

Tight End – Ja'Tavion Sanders
Many had Sanders as the No. 2 tight end in the draft class in January behind Brock Bowers. Ultimately, poor testing led to the former Longhorn slipping to the top of the fourth round as the fourth tight end off the board. However, the Carolina Panthers might have gotten the steal of the NFL Draft with Sanders. They lack weapons that can create after the catch – Sanders’ biggest strength. He should step in as an impact player for Bryce Young as a rookie.
