Today's NHL Betting Picks - New York Rangers vs. Washington Capitals
O/U: 5.5 | Moneyline: NYR (-175)
The Washington Capitals are in danger of becoming the third team to enter a 3-0 series deficit as they play host to the Rangers for Game 3 of their first-round postseason series.
After a 4-1 loss to open the series, the Caps kept it close on Tuesday, dropping a narrow 4-3 decision in New York. In all honesty, the team didn't have much business being in the postseason as they yielded 37 more goals than they scored, easily the worst mark of any postseason club. At the same time, don't expect them to go quietly in this one, either.
In fact, the two clubs split the season series 2-2 prior to meeting up in the playoffs. The goal-scoring was 9-9 in that time. That's about as close as it gets despite the Rangers finishing 23 points ahead at the regular season's end.
The Capitals were a far better team at home this season where they posted a 22-12-7 record versus an 18-19-4 record away from MSG. The Rangers were excellent wherever they played as their road record was a dynamite 25-12-4.
The Caps have had a couple of days off to regroup from dropping the first two games of the season on Broadway. Capital One Arena in Washington knows how to create a playoff atmosphere and the veteran-laden club has been in this dance before.
Let's see if they can rebuild and pull off the upset as significant home underdogs on Friday.
Pick: Capitals moneyline (+145, DraftKings sportsbook)

Today's NHL Betting Picks - Edmonton Oilers vs. Los Angeles Kings
O/U: 6.5 | Moneyline: EDM (-142)
As expected, it's been a fun two games between the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings who have now met in the first round of the postseason for the third consecutive season.
Edmonton won a 7-4 affair to open the series before the Kings bounced back with a 5-4 overtime win to even the series on Wednesday. The series switches to Los Angeles for Game 3 with a major swing game on tap Wednesday.
Obviously, it's been a high-scoring affair to this point. However, the Kings quietly ranked third with a .909 save percentage in all situations from their goaltenders this season, even if Cam Talbot has struggled early in the series. The veteran posted a strong 2.50 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage in 54 games this season. His 14.02 goals save are above average, and he ranked 10th of 71 qualified netminders.
Edmonton's Stuart Skinner was more middling. He was great at times but finished with a decent 2.62 GAA and .905 SV% across 59 appearances. He owns a .857 SV% in this series so far.
The Kings were fairly even in their home/road splits this season, with a 22-12-7 home record and a 22-15-4 road record. However, Edmonton was far inferior on the road, where they went 21-18-2 versus a stealth 28-9-4 record at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
Once again, we'll look to extract value from a home underdog in this one tonight.
Pick: Kings moneyline (+120, DraftKings sportsbook)
