ANALYSIS: The Chicago Cubs have recalled center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong from Triple-A Iowa due to the rib fracture Cody Bellinger suffered while slamming into the outfield wall on Tuesday.
It's the second recall in the young career of Crow-Armstrong after he debuted with a hitless 19 plate appearances in a brief promotion in the 2023 season. His work at Triple-A this season has left plenty to be desired as he's hitting just .203 with two homers, five stolen bases, and a .633 OPS despite playing in the hitter-friendly International League.
The Cubs are calling up MLB's No. 15 overall prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong.

The 22-year-old's bat clearly needs minor league seasoning at this point. The Cubs have promoted him primarily for his excellent defense in center field while he should offer some speed after swiping 37 bases across 107 games between Double-A and Triple-A in the 2023 campaign.
While he offers short-term speed in redraft leagues, he is likely Iowa-bound when Bellinger returns. His value lies in deeper 12-14+ team leagues, and fantasy baseball dynasty leagues, as prospective managers will look for a rebound at the plate with Iowa after a sluggish start.
