Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies is off to a great start in 2024. Through 15 games, he is slashing .317/.386/.492 with two home runs, 14 RBI, and five doubles. Albies has also tallied a hit in eight straight contests that he has appeared in.
But Albies hasn't seen the field since April 15. The power-hitting second baseman was hit in the toe on a pitch early in that game before eventually landing on the 10-day injured list shortly after.
So, how is Albies progressing from his toe injury? When is he coming back? Let's dive in and find out.

Ozzie Albies Injury Update for Fantasy Baseball
In the second inning of that April 15 game against the Houston Astros, Albies was hit in the right foot by right-hander Spencer Arrighetti. The Braves second baseman stayed in the game, though, and played all nine innings. However, an MRI after the game revealed a fracture in his big toe.
As a result, the Braves decided to place him on the 10-day IL. The trip to the IL gave Albies' toe some time to heal, but the team didn't expect his absence to be very long.
Ozzie Albies continues to hit and move around well. He’s eligible to come off the injured list Friday.
Snit said he felt Albies probably could’ve played last night. The Braves will keep shooting for Friday for his return, though Albies isn’t 100% certain he’d come off that day.— Justin Toscano (@JustinCToscano) April 23, 2024
That remains the case, as Albies was cleared to take batting practice on April 22 before the Braves faced off against the Miami Marlins. The 27-year-old is first eligible to come off the IL on April 26, and all signs point to the second baseman being activated on that day.
Ozzie Albies Fantasy Baseball Outlook
Albies' IL stint appears to be extremely short, as he is expected to rejoin the team on Friday ahead of their three-game set against the Cleveland Guardians. That means you can stash him in one of your IL slots for the next couple of days before having to activate him.
Upon his return, Albies should go back to his usual role as the Braves starting second baseman and hitting atop the batting order. He has been the team's primary two-hitter, so he should replace Michael Harris II and Orlando Arcia in that spot -- both of whom have been hitting second in his place.

Albies is one of the game's best fantasy players and should be started right away when he returns. Last season, he hit .280 at the plate with 33 HRs, 109 RBI, and 30 doubles across 148 games.
