Rangers Send Owen White Back To Minors
Owen White to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday and activated pitcher Jonathan Hernandez (lat) from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. White, the team's No. 9 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was with the Rangers' big-league club for the first time in his career for a few days, but he didn't make a single appearance and will now head back to the minors to continue his development. The 24-year-old has been slowed by injuries early in his career. He pitched in the All-Star Futures game but didn't look too good in the second half of 2023 when he was promoted to Triple-A. White allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in just 12 1/3 innings with seven walks and 11 strikeouts in his first three starts for Round Rock, so he's going to need to turn it around on the farm if he wants another call-up to the big leagues later this year.

Yankees Claim Owen White Off Waivers From Reds
Owen White off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday and designated right-hander Allan Winans for assignment in a corresponding move to make room for White on the 40-man roster. White will head back to the American League after allowing 13 earned runs on 14 hits (three homers) while walking three and striking out four in just seven relief innings with the Texas Rangers the last two seasons. The 25-year-old former second-round selection by Texas in 2018 also struggled at Triple-A Round Rock in 2024 with a 5.64 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 99 innings pitched on the farm. The former Rangers top prospect will likely begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre if he sticks with the Yankees beyond spring training. White has a 4.37 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in four minor-league seasons with Texas.

Reds Designate Owen White For Assignment
Owen White for assignment. This corresponding move opened a roster spot for left-handed pitcher Taylor Rogers, who the team acquired earlier on Wednesday from the San Francisco Giants. White has logged just seven innings in the major leagues over the past two seasons with the Texas Rangers. Over this short stint, White has allowed a hefty 13 earned runs with a 3:4 BB:K ratio. Across 151 1/3 career frames at the Triple-A level, the former second-round selection posted a 5.41 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP. White tallied 119 punchouts while serving up 80 free passes. Fantasy managers should expect White to spend most of the 2025 season at the Triple-A level.

Reds Acquire Owen White From Rangers
Owen White from the Texas Rangers on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, according to the Rangers. The move comes after the Rangers recently designated White for assignment and off their 40-man roster. The 25-year-old will now head to the National League went 2-8 with a rough 5.64 ERA and 1.57 WHIP with 87 strikeouts and 48 walks in 99 innings over 29 appearances (15 starts) at Triple-A Round Rock last year while also appearing in only three games in relief at the major-league level. In his three innings for the Rangers, he gave up eight earned runs while walking one and striking out none. White was originally a second-round pick by the Rangers in 2018, so the Reds are taking a chance hoping that he's a late bloomer. He will most likely start the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Louisville.

Rangers Designate Owen White For Assignment
Owen White to make room for free agent left-handed pitcher Hoby Milner. The Rangers agreed to a one-year contract with Milner on Thursday evening. White was drafted by the Rangers in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Jesse Carson HS. White made his major league debut in 2023 and posted a 11.25 ERA across four innings of work. Then, last summer, White held a hefty 24.00 ERA across three innings of work. Across 154 1/3 innings at Triple-A, the right-hander held a 5.41 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP with a 80:119 BB:K ratio. Given his struggles not only in the big leagues but at the top level of the minor leagues, White will likely operate primarily in the minor leagues if he finds a new home in 2025.
