How Should You Approach Daniel Hemric In DFS This Weekend At Talladega?
7 months agoDaniel Hemric will start 19th in Sunday's Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Despite 2024 being a largely disappointing season for Hemric, he did have a solid fantasy performance last weekend at Texas. After starting 38th, the 33-year-old ended the day with a 20th-place finish, earning 41 DraftKings points on a salary of just $5,200. Although NASCAR can be a sport of momentum, don't expect last week's success to carry over this weekend at Talladega. In his last two Cup starts at this track, the Kaulig Racing star had two unfortunate incidents. In the spring of 2022, he had a wreck that resulted in a 36th-place finish, and in the fall of 2022, he experienced electrical issues that led to a 34th-place finish. While he does have two top-fives in eight Xfinity starts at this track, he finished 21st in last year's Xfinity race and is averaging -12.7 in place differential over these starts. Having said this, because restrictor plate racing does lend itself to chaos, Hemric is not a complete fade this weekend at Talladega. Considering that his salary on DraftKings is only $5,400, you can justify rostering the No. 31 in DFS this weekend. However, if you do this, you must understand it is being done as a salary-saving wild card move and not based on driver merit.
