Francisco Alvarez Going For MRI On His Thumb
7 months agoNew York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez (thumb) is getting an MRI exam on his injured left thumb, according to manager Carlos Mendoza. "I'm pretty concerned. I'm not going to lie," Mendoza said. Alvarez injured his left thumb while returning to second base in Friday night's win over the Los Angeles Dodgers and was pulled from the contest early. The 22-year-old will almost certainly not be in the starting lineup for Saturday's game, and fantasy managers should probably expect him to miss more time, potentially even landing on the injured list, depending on what the MRI exam shows. Omar Narvaez is set for more playing time in the short term, while Tomas Nido will likely be called up from Triple-A Syracuse if Alvarez lands on the IL.
