Veteran running back Dalvin Cook spent his first six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings before they cut him during the 2023 offseason. Then, the New York Jets swooped in and signed him to a one-year, $7 million deal.
However, Cook did not have the best season in New York. He ran for only 214 yards and was cut in the final weeks of the season. The veteran would sign a deal with the Baltimore Ravens shortly after.
So, is Cook a free agent this offseason? Who could Cook sign with this offseason? Let's dive in and find out.

Is Dalvin Cook a Free Agent?
Cook played for two teams last season, but neither offered him a multi-year contract. As a result, the four-time Pro Bowler entered the 2024 offseason as a free agent. He's eligible to sign with any team -- like he was in 2023 -- and could take as long as he wants to sign somewhere.
That has exactly taken place for Cook this offseason, as the 28-year-old remains without a home. With the 2024 running back free agent class being as stacked as it was, it's not surprising to see the veteran still on the free agent market. He didn't have a great 2023 campaign and is likely past his prime.

However, there's a good chance that a team will take a chance on Cook. There's no guarantee that it will happen in the coming weeks, but a running back-needy team might eventually bite on the opportunity to add a veteran to its roster.
Which Teams Would Be the Best Fit for Dalvin Cook?
There are plenty of teams that could be in the market for a running back before the 2024 season begins. Those teams will likely wait until after the 2024 NFL Draft to make a move at the position. Don't expect Cook to sign somewhere before that, as teams that need a running back will look for one in the draft.
Nonetheless, there are still plenty of great landing spots for Cook, including the Dallas Cowboys. After losing Tony Pollard this offseason, the Cowboys are desperately in the market for a running back. If the veteran is looking for a starting job, Dallas would be the best fit. He would likely see a fair share of opportunities in that offense.
Dalvin Cook staying patient in free agency: "I'm gonna go earn my spot anywhere, wherever I go. So right now, for me, just kind of see how everything is going to fill out for everybody. And then you know me, I'll just sneak up on the scene."https://t.co/g001YpnK7z pic.twitter.com/mBQcql1Rg8

Dallas might be one of the few spots still needing a starting running back, but teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, and Los Angeles Rams could also use a veteran on offense. While Cook wouldn't be the starter in any of those spots, he would be a viable backup option.
