Should You Roster Martin Truex Jr. In DFS This Weekend At Texas Motor Speedway?
8 months agoMartin Truex Jr. will start ninth in Sunday's Auto Trader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Truex, who won the regular season championship in 2023, is quietly having another monster year in 2024. Although he has yet to find the winner's circle, he does have five top-10s and is averaging a series-high 55.57 DraftKings points for the season. While results like this would typically make a driver a lock for DFS, there are some questions and inconsistencies surrounding the 21-year Cup veteran heading into this weekend's race at Texas that should give us some caution. Specifically, in 34 starts in Fort Worth, Truex has never won and is averaging just 15.43 DraftKings points since the launch of the Next Gen Car. On the other hand, the former Cup champion does have 17 top-10 finishes at this track and is averaging 43.32 points on DraftKings over the last 15 races at intermediates, which is the fourth-best in the Cup Series. This is what makes him a challenge for DFS players this weekend because while he has looked great on intermediates, his results at Texas are solid but underwhelming. Due to these inconsistencies, it is recommended that you err on the side of caution and limit your exposure to the No. 19 to a max of 10% of your lineup builds this weekend in DFS.
