Veteran running back Kareem Hunt started the 2023 season as a free agent. But when Nick Chubb (knee) went down with a season-ending injury, Hunt was picked up by the Cleveland Browns -- whom he spent four years with from 2019 to 2022.
Now, Hunt is a free agent again after his one-year deal with the Browns has expired. At 28 years old, though, the former Pro Bowler can still be a vital part of any offense in the NFL.
So, who could Hunt sign with this offseason? Let's dive in and find out.

Is Kareem Hunt a Free Agent?
When the Browns signed Hunt at the start of the 2023 season, they gave him a one-year contract. That means the veteran entered the 2024 offseason as a free agent. However, despite the free-agency period being open for over a month now, the 28-year-old still remains without a team.
It makes sense why Hunt is still a free agent in April. He didn't draw much interest last offseason, and in a stacked running back free-agent class, there might not have been a lot of interest from around the league. The veteran could also be waiting until after the 2024 NFL Draft to sign with a team.

If he waits, a running-back needy team could pay him what he wants -- similar to the Browns in 2023. Hunt is coming off a solid year in Cleveland where he totaled a career-high nine rushing touchdowns. He might be past his prime, but he can still contribute to an NFL team.
Which Teams Would be the Best Fit for Kareem Hunt?
As we wait for the NFL Draft to kick off on April 25, there are plenty of teams that could be in the market for a running back. A team like the Dallas Cowboys would be the perfect fit for Hunt. Dallas does not have a starting back on its roster, so the veteran could fit that need immediately.
The Cowboys are one of the few teams that still need a starting-caliber running back following the departure of Tony Pollard. If Hunt wants to be a starting running back in 2024, Dallas would be the best fit for him.

However, don't count out other teams like the Browns, Buccaneers, or Colts. All three of those teams might already have a starting running back on the roster, but they should be in the market for a veteran backup. Hunt could fill that role with any of those teams while still seeing plenty of opportunities on offense.
