Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert has dealt with his fair share of injuries over his career. Last year, though, the All-Star stayed relatively healthy and played a career-high 145 games. That helped him finish with 38 home runs, 36 doubles, 80 RBI, and 20 stolen bases.
However, just seven games into the 2024 season, Robert is already hurt. The outfielder suffered a right hip flexor strain rounding first base on April 5 and appeared to be in significant pain.
So, how serious is Robert's injury? When is he coming back? Let's dive in and find out.

Luis Robert Injury Update for Fantasy Baseball
It was a surprise to most when Robert stayed healthy in 2023, but that won't be the case in 2024. After suffering a right hip flexor strain on April 5, the White Sox immediately placed the All-Star on the 10-day injured list.
While there isn't a clear timetable for his return, the expectation is that he will be out multiple weeks. Reports have surfaced that Robert will miss somewhere between 6-8 weeks -- if not longer. Either way, though, he will miss a large portion of the first half of the season.

The White Sox have officially confirmed that Robert suffered a Grade 2 hip flexor strain, which is not great news. We could see the outfielder at the beginning of June, but there is no guarantee that it even happens. When he is healthy enough to run, hit, and play the field, he will likely go on a rehab assignment for a couple of games.
Luis Robert Fantasy Baseball Outlook
Robert's injury is brutal news for any fantasy manager who spent a high pick on the White Sox outfielder in fantasy. The 26-year-old will be out for an extended time, and missing that bat in your fantasy lineup will surely hurt.
However, Robert shouldn't be dropped in any format and should be stashed in one of your IL slots until he returns. He won't miss the entire season, so he should be contributing once again to your fantasy team in the future. When healthy, the 26-year-old is one of the best hitters in the game.

If you don't own Robert, look to see if the fantasy manager in your league will trade him away. You can likely acquire the right-handed slugger at a significant discount. That could be a league-winning move for your fantasy team.
