Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill showed some muscle in Friday night's 8-6 win over the Los Angeles Angels in their home opener, going 3-for-4 with two solo home runs, two RBI and three runs scored. The 28-year-old has so far enjoyed playing for the Red Sox in 2024, as he's started the year by going 9-for-22 (.409) with a league-leading four home runs, four RBI, a stolen base and nine runs scored in 28 plate appearances in his first seven contests. The former Cardinals outfielder has also walked more (five times) than he's struck out (three times). The former third-round pick in 2013 by the Seattle Mariners has always had the talent, but injuries kept him from reaching his ceiling in his six years in St. Louis before joining the BoSox this past winter.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Baltimore Orioles general manager Mike Elias said that outfielder Tyler O'Neill (neck) and infielder Jordan Westburg (hamstring) are more "days away" than "weeks away" from returning from the injured list. The Orioles are talking about whether either player needs to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated from the IL. The oft-injured O'Neill is eligible to return this Sunday and should return to a regular role in the Orioles outfield despite starting the season with a .215/.284/.385 slash line with two homers and 10 RBI in 75 plate appearances. Ramon Laureano will return to the bench when O'Neill returns. Westburg can come off the IL as soon as next Wednesday. The 26-year-old was also struggling at the plate with a .217 average, four home runs and six RBI, but he should resume his regular role at third upon his return, especially with Ramon Urias (hamstring) currently injured.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Baltimore Orioles have placed outfielder Tyler O'Neill (neck) on the 10-day IL retroactive to Apr 24 with neck soreness. O's manager, Brandon Hyde, stated that he's "hopeful" it's a minimum stay for the veteran. O'Neill has been battling his neck issue for a few weeks now, and he'll finally have time to get it sorted. The power-hitting right-hander has had trouble staying healthy over the years, and 2025 has been no different. Baltimore recalled outfielder Dylan Carlson in a corresponding move. Before his trip to the IL, the 29-year-old had been scuffling at the plate, batting .118 over his last 51 at-bats (six hits). It's possible his neck ailment is at least partially to blame.--Alex Ciulla

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that outfielder Tyler O'Neill (neck) is out of Thursday's starting lineup against the hosting Washington Nationals with the same neck soreness that he dealt with last week. Hyde is hoping that O'Neill will be available off the bench on Thursday. Ramon Laureano is drawing the start in right field and is hitting seventh against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore, who he has hit .833 against with three RBI in six career at-bats. The 29-year-old O'Neill missed two games last week with the neck injury, and it could turn into an injured-list situation if it doesn't clear up by the weekend. For now, though, fantasy managers should consider the Canadian outfielder to be day-to-day. O'Neill has gotten off to a poor start in his first year in Baltimore, hitting .215 (14-for-65) with two homers, 10 RBI and 21 K's in 74 trips to the plate. He's gone 1-for-20 with 11 K's in his last five games.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Tyler O'Neill (neck) remains out of the starting nine on Thursday against the Cleveland Guardians. O'Neill was held out of the starting lineup on Wednesday due to neck discomfort. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his status leading up to their contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday evening. With O'Neill sitting out, Ryan O'Hearn will cover right field and bat in the four-hole. During his first 15 games in Baltimore, O'Neill has enjoyed an impressive start, holding a .265/.339/.490 slash line with three doubles and two round-trippers. Under the hood, he has generated a strong .370 xwOBA with an elite 18.4 percent barrel rate. O'Hearn is worth a look in DFS facing right-hander Tanner Bibee, who enters Thursday with a 4.40 ERA.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
