Welcome to our Sleeper NBA DFS prop picks for Friday, April 5. With just eight nights left of regular season basketball, time is running out for NBA bettors.
RotoBaller’s Prop Optimizer has been pivotal all season, but it has required some excavating to avoid certain landmines and other ‘anti-algorithm’ bets properly. By this, we mean just because the Prop-timizer favors a bet doesn’t make it a smash. Wednesday, the highest-rated bets included betting the under on blocks, and tonight, we have a similar story.
The problem is, nearly every player projected to have under one block Wednesday finished the game with around two or three, or at least Kristaps Porzingis, Clint Capela, and Rudy Gobert did. That was three of Wednesday’s top three bets, and they all followed the same path. A rim protector protected the rim against bad teams. Tonight, Chet Holmgren faces the Pacers offense, and while we know the optimizer likes the under, everything we know about basketball says the over.
Sleeper offers some of the best and easiest-to-win NBA DFS games in the industry. Sleeper DFS works just like regular player prop betting -- there are no large-field tournaments in which to get lost. You're not playing against other people; you're just playing against the projections. Here are some of our favorite NBA prop picks for Friday's 12-game slate.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.
NBA DFS Props - Over/Under Picks for Friday, April 5
GG Jackson II OVER 8.5 Rebounds + Assists
The best thing about this year’s Grizzlies has easily been the exposure some of these young players are getting. Kenneth Lofton Jr., David Roddy, and Jackson may never be household names, but among NBA diehards, all three have given fans reasons to be optimistic about this season, whether they are still Memphis Grizzlies or not. More importantly, the Grizzlies, who are still available and playing like Jackson, have been balling out.
If there’s a player who is capable of putting up triple-double-esque games and his line is sitting below 10.5 ‘insert-a-stat-here,’ you have to take the over. In a situation like this, where Jackson is trending up and one game removed from his career-high in rebounds, a combination stat bet offers a nice security blanket since we know how easily he can surpass an over this low. He’s hit in 12 of his last 15, and the Pistons are the perfect team to build momentum on.
Isaiah Hartenstein OVER 2.5 Assists
We can’t avoid an Isaiah Hartenstein over when he’s lining up against someone like Nikola Vucevic. While they seemingly cancel each other out by being efficient paint-roaming centers, it actually offers the perfect chance for both to see extra passing attempts. The short turnaround should be available all game for both Hartenstein and Vucevic, but neither is selfish enough to make that the focal point of the offense. Both defenses in this game have seen a significant drop-off since earlier in the season and that means more points being scored around the rim.
Hartenstein has never qualified as a one-trick pony, and games, where he puts up massive stat lines, were usually a development made mid-game. His selflessness is his most important trait and absolutely the reason why he’s able to post high assist numbers alongside rebounds and defensive stats so consistently. Posting three assists would be nothing out of the ordinary, and against the Bulls, not only should the Knicks see more shots, but Hartenstein has incredible potential, with Vucevic being his only real obstacle.
Jabari Walker OVER 10.5 Rebounds
Similar to Hartenstein, you can’t avoid a player with unmatched potential in a favorable position. Jabari Walker’s last three games have been the most he’s played all season, and he’s delivered nearly every time. His rebounds currently sit at 10.5, and rightfully so after a 22-rebound game versus the Hornets. Charlotte’s frontcourt has become a target for bettors, and Walker gives just another example of why. The bounce-back game versus Washington might not be as dramatic, but his stat lines in the two games he’s been trusted with a full workload have been extremely positive.
The Trail Blazers are in the perfect position to keep funneling production into up-and-coming players and Walker is first on the list. He’s able to defend at a high level, hits shots from the outside and involves teammates when he can. For the last few games of the season, we should see a Walker-explosion and full trust from teammates and the front office. Before you count that last game as a fluke, note that he pulled down 11 rebounds against the Wizards earlier in the season on minimal minutes.
