Jakob Chychrun Banged Up In Practice, Status Questionable For Thursday
12 months agoOttawa Senators defenseman Jakob Chychrun (undisclosed) left practice early on Thursday and will be a game-time decision against Florida. Chychrun was shaken up late in practice and head coach Jacques Martin was unsure on whether he would be able to play tonight. The blueliner has been on a roll lately, notching six points (four goals, two assists) in his last five games. He has also been a part of the first powerplay unit of late, so if he is out the Sens would need to find a replacement. Claude Giroux and Shane Pinto are the most offensively talented players on the Sens' second unit, so one of them would make sense. Either way, Chychrun's absence would be a tough blow for fantasy players in their championship or semi-final this week.

Jakob Chychrun Suffers Laceration, Questionable For Tuesday
1 week agoWashington Capitals defenseman Jakob Chychrun (hand) suffered a laceration from a skate on his hand during Saturday's contest. Head coach Spencer Carbery said he was "lucky," but it was still a "significant" cut. He will travel with the team to Winnipeg for Tuesday's contest but may not suit up. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during Tuesday's morning skate, as it will likely provide clarity on his status. Over his last eight contests, Chychrun has tallied four points (one goal) with 23 shots on goal, seven hits, and six blocked shots. Through 65 contests this season, the 26-year-old has tallied 43 points, with 14 of them coming on the power play. If Chychrun were to sit out on Tuesday, Alexander Alexeyev would likely enter the starting lineup.

Jakob Chychrun Back In Action On Saturday
5 months agoWashington Capitals defenseman Jakob Chychrun (upper body) has been activated from Injured Reserve ahead of Saturday's battle with the Blues, indicating he's ready to return to the lineup. Chychrun missed a fifth consecutive game as Washington suffered a 4-2 defeat against Pittsburgh on Friday night. Alexander Alexeyev has filled in for him and will likely exit the lineup on Saturday when Chychrun returns. Chychrun's return will also affect Martin Fehervary and Rasmus Sandin, resulting in less ice time for both players. With eight games played for his new team, Chychrun has notched four points (two goals, two assists) with 14 shots on goal, nine blocks, and seven hits.

Jakob Chychrun Skating, Unlikely To Play Friday
5 months agoWashington Capitals defenseman Jakob Chychrun (upper body) was at team practice in a regular jersey, but doesn't seem to be ready to go for Friday's contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Chychrun has missed the last four games due to an upper-body injury suffered on October 29, but he is progressing and should return soon. The Caps play the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, and there is a chance Chychrun returns for that game. When he returns, expect him to play top-four minutes with some time on both the powerplay and penalty kill. He should provide some scoring and decent peripherals for fantasy, making him a solid lower-end defenseman in standard leagues.
