Alek Manoah To Throw Sim Game Tuesday
9 months agoToronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that right-hander Alek Manoah (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game on Tuesday against minor-leaguers. Manoah was only able to pitch in one spring training game due to right-shoulder soreness, but he threw 34 pitches in two innings during a simulated game last Wednesday and will continue to ramp up as he tries to rejoin Toronto's starting rotation. The 26-year-old should have a rotation spot waiting for him when he's fully healthy, but he may not have a long leash after being demoted to the minors twice in 2023 while posting a nightmarish 5.87 ERA and 1.74 WHIP with 59 walks and 79 strikeouts in 19 starts and 87 1/3 innings. At best, Manoah is a stash candidate in deep-mixed leagues as he nears activation from the IL.
