Ross Chastain Is A Contrarian DFS Option For Richmond
9 months agoRoss Chastain will start third in this week's race at Richmond Raceway. Sunday's race will be the third time Chastain will start from the Top 5, and is his highest starting position of the season so far. Richmond is a track where Chastain has struggled to score a top finish through most of his career, with only two top-10 finishes in 10 starts. The driver of the No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet also captured positive place differential four times in his Cup career at the Virginia track. Through six races so far this season, Chastain is one of the best and most consistent drivers of the year, with four top-10 finishes and five finishes with positive PD. In practice, Chastain's overall lap averages ranked 17th of all drivers despite showing top-10 speeds in some categories as well as being a part of Group A, which dealt with faster track conditions. Due to his high starting position combined with past Richmond history, Chastain is one of the riskiest plays in the field for DFS with little PD upside. Chastain works best as a contrarian play for GPP lineups that could see some potential use based on his overall consistency from this season so far.
