Eric Cross' Top 100 Dynasty Prospect Rankings for Fantasy Baseball (March 2024)

Wyatt Langford - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Prospects

Eric Cross' updated top 100 dynasty prospect rankings for fantasy baseball (March updated). These are top MLB prospects to target in dynasty leagues for 2024.

Happy Opening Day! The wait is finally over and we can once again settle into the grind of setting lineups and scouring the waiver wire. In redraft leagues, the fun is just ramping back up, but in dynasty leagues, there is no offseason, especially when it comes to dynasty and prospect rankings. All offseason, I was diving into video and player profiles, adjusting my rankings accordingly to ensure I'm providing the best and more up to date rankings I possibly can. Below are my Top 100 prospects entering the 2024 season and I'll be posting my updated Top 100 dynasty rankings in the next day or two.

These rankings are geared toward standard 5x5 leagues (AVG) and consider many factors, including performance to date, scouting grades, future projection, and video and data analysis. Or, as I like to call it... PPP. Which stands for profile, performance, projection.

While these rankings are more slanted towards long-term fantasy value, proximity and short-term value do play a part in where a prospect lands in my rankings. If you want to see the full Top-500, then head on over to my Patreon!

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings Notes

Wyatt Langford (OF - TEX)

All hail King Langford. For me, Langford is the clear-cut #1 fantasy prospect right now as he possesses the best combination of contact, approach, power, and speed of any prospect in the game today. ANd honestly, he has one of the best all-around offensive skillsets of the last decade. After annihilating collegiate pitching in his final two seasons at Florida, Langford slashed .360/.480/.677 in 200 plate appearances after the draft with 17 doubles, 10 home runs, 12 steals, and more walks (36) than strikeouts (34). The upside here is a fantasy first rounder and we could see that become reality sooner rather than later.

Jasson Dominguez (OF - NYY) and Noelvi Marte (3B - CIN)

It's not often that buy-low opportunities present themselves for elite prospects, but we have two right now with Jasson Dominguez and Noelvi Marte. If Dominguez didn't need Tommy John surgery, he probably would've had a Top 100 ADP in redraft leagues this season after a 15/40 season in 118 minor league games and four home runs in eight games with the Yankees before the injury. Given his power/speed blend, Dominguez could realistically be a 30/30 player if everything clicks.

As for Marte, consider this a minor speedbump on his path to fantasy greatness. Yes, his 80-game suspension was and is a major blow to those of us (shakes fist in air) that had redraft shares, but he's still only 22 with an exciting blend of offensive skills and a hitter's have for a home ballpark. Marte has the upside to hit above .270 with 30 homers and 15-20 steals annually. If you have him, I'd definitely hold tight. If you don't, it can't hurt to try and swoop in and acquire him while he might only cost 95 cents on the dollar.

Walker Jenkins (OF - MIN) and Colt Emerson (SS - SEA)

With many of the top names likely graduating from prospect status this season, we're going to see some new names at the top of prospect rankings later this summer and into 2025. And if you listened to The Toolshed Podcast a few episodes ago, you'll recall Chris Clegg and I picking Colt Emerson (Clegg) and Walker Jenkins (Me) to be the new #1 prospect for fantasy purposes in 2025. Jenkins is already in my Top-20 overall and will likely be inside the Top-10 by the all-star break. He was one of the best pure hitters in the entire 2023 class and could wind up as a 60-hit/70-power/55-speed player in time. The sky is the limit.

With Emerson, he was also considered one of the best pure hitters in the 2023 class and has additional power projection to unlock. If he continues to add power without sacrificing contact or slowing down on the base paths if he bulks up, Emerson could develop into above-average or better tools across the board offensively.

Brock Wilken (3B - MIL)

In case you couldn't tell, the 2023 draft class was absolutely loaded and one of the best draft classes we've had over the last decade or so. If you're looking for the next Coby Mayo, my vote would go to Brock Wilken. The former Wake Forest masher made notable strides at the plate in 2023, transforming himself from a slugger with a questionable hit tool to a hitter that should hit for a respectable average as well. Wilken improved his contact, walk, and strikeout rates during his final season on campus and carried that momentum over into the minor leagues after the draft.

The beautiful element to all of this as well was that Wilken did this without sacrificing any of his mammoth raw power. I'm not projecting Wilken as a potential 50-grade hitter that can hit around .260 to pair with a good OBP while pushing 35-40 homers annually.

Roderick Arias (SS - NYY), Joendry Vargas (SS - LAD) & Leo De Vries (SS - SDP)

If we drop down into the lower levels of the minor leagues, three of my favorite names to make a push for Top 25 status or higher are Roderick Arias, Leo De Vries, and Joendry Vargas. If it weren't for a hand injury, we might have ranked Arias there already. He was really hitting his stride in the Complex Level before landing on the IL, so that injury might be a slight silver lining as his price tag remains reasonable for just a little bit longer.

One level lower, Vargas was tearing up the DSL, slashing .328/.423/.529 with 19 extra-base hits and 19 steals in 208 plate appearances. Vargas is a solid athlete with an extremely projectable 6'4 frame that oozes power potential. If he's able to add bulk and power without sacrificing contact or losing too much speed, Vargas is going to be a fantasy stud.

Lastly, Leo De Vries might be the next Padres' prospect to be fast tracked after Ethan Salas was in 2023. De Vries was seen at minor league camp this spring so it would make sense to see him at the Complex Level instead of the Dominican Summer League.

Jackson Jobe (SP - DET)

At the moment, the king of the pitching prospect landscape is a battle between Jackson Jobe and Paul Skenes. If you polled the masses on Twitter, I'd say the results would be in the vicinity of 60/40 to Skenes, but Jobe is my current 1A to Skenes' 1B. In 64 innings last season, Jobe recorded a stellar 2.81 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 2.3% walk rate, and 32.6% strikeout rate. His blend of elite stuff and plus command/control is rare to see and Jobe should form an electric 1-2 punch with Tarik Skubal atop Detroit's rotation by the end of the 2024 season. Jobe was touching triple-digits this spring and also possesses a double-plus slider and plus changeup as well.
