Jared Goff's career in Los Angeles didn't take off like many expected after his appearance in Super Bowl LIII, and he was traded to the Lions for Matthew Stafford. Goff's first season in the Motor City was terrible, but he has completely turned things around over the last two seasons.
In 2022, he almost led them to the playoffs, while in 2023 he won the NFC North, beat Stafford's Rams in the playoffs, and made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game. Now that he has one year left on his deal, the Lions need to act quickly to keep their new franchise quarterback.

Will the Lions Extend Jared Goff's Contract This Offseason?
During the NFL's annual meeting on Tuesday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was asked if the team was pursuing extensions for Goff and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown. "Yeah, those are priorities," Campbell said. "I’m not going to get into those, but certainly there’s conversations that are being had.”
Jared Goff is set to make $27.9M this year if the Lions don’t extend him before the season begins.

With multiple QBs in the league making around $50 million annually, Goff will probably ask for a similar value. With St. Brown's extension coming up as well, the Lions are already making moves to prepare themselves, such as letting Josh Reynolds go to the Broncos. Since there is clear interest from Goff and the Lions for an extension, it's just a matter of time until they reach an agreement.
Jared Goff's 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Goff is still one of the best QBs in the NFL and will look to continue his success this season. Last year, Goff finished as the overall fantasy QB7 and he also finished as the overall QB10 in 2022. The only other time he had finished in the top 10 was in the 2018 season, so it's clear that Goff has finally found his home in Detroit.

One of the main reasons for Goff's recent fantasy success has been his durability. Over the past two seasons, he has not missed a single game for the Lions, and with a great offensive line protecting him, that should remain the case this season barring some unforeseen event. For his ADP, Goff is a reliable QB1 who is ready to take the Lions to the Super Bowl in 2024.
