Ryan Fox Lacks Upside Heading Into Houston Open
1 year agoRyan Fox has been a mainstay atop the DP World Tour leaderboards for years. The 37-year-old New Zealander currently sits at number 47 in the Official World Golf Rankings and has eight international victories to his name, with his most recent win coming at the BMW PGA Championship in September of 2023. However, Fox hasn't carried this success over to the PGA Tour in recent months. In his six Tour starts since the beginning of the year, he has four missed cuts to go along with finishes of T41 and T35, and he has never posted a top-10 PGA Tour finish in his career. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect that to change at Memorial Park despite the advantage his distance off-the-tee will lend him, as Fox ranks 105th around-the-green, 90th in bogey avoidance, and 82nd in par 5 scoring over the last 24 rounds. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere for upside in the low-to-mid $7,000 range on DraftKings.

Ryan Fox A Player To Avoid At Cognizant Classic
1 month agoRyan Fox has started just two PGA events in 2025, posting results of T63 and a missed cut. He now turns his attention to the Cognizant Classic, hoping to get back on track at a tournament he has played in once before, finishing T35 in 2024. This success was driven by a strong performance on approach, where he gained 4.121 strokes, a category he has struggled with so far this year, losing 1.244 strokes over his first two events. Over the last 12 months, Fox ranks in the 56th percentile for proximity from 150-200 yards, a range that accounts for 48.1% of approach shots at PGA National. The bigger concern, however, comes with his greens in regulation, where he ranks near the bottom of the tour, hitting just 47.9% of greens on approach shots from that same distance. Given these struggles, Fox may be difficult for fantasy managers to trust at his price tag of $7,100 on DraftKings.

Ryan Fox A Boom-Or-Bust Play At Mexican Open
1 month agoRyan Fox has played in just one PGA event this year, finishing T63 at the WM Phoenix Open. He now turns his attention to the Mexican Open, an event he has played in only once, missing the cut last year. At 7,456 yards, Vidanta Vallarta is a course that requires length off the tee and strong long-iron play. Fox ranked 20th on tour in driving distance in 2024 (310.9 yards), but he's in just the 21st percentile for greens in regulation from 200-plus yards, a range that accounted for 43.3% of all approach shots at this event last year. Fox also ranked eighth on tour last year in par-three scoring, averaging 2.98 strokes per hole. With five par-threes on this course, this could play to Fox's advantage. At a price tag of $8,000 on DraftKings, fantasy managers should proceed with caution before inserting Fox into their lineups.

Ryan Fox Looking For Better Fortune At Shriners
6 months agoRyan Fox is hoping the four rounds at the Shriners are kinder than the Black Desert Championship in Utah. The golfer from New Zealand was up and down trading good rounds with not so good last week. He opened with a 65 then followed up with a 72. Add in a 68-70 weekend and that placed Fox outside the Top 40. After almost two months off from the PGA Tour, Fox nearly finished inside the Top 10 at the Sanderson Farms Championship (T-11). His FedEx Cup Fall ranking stands at 104. Fox can hit the ball a country mile at 308.3 yards per drive but is only accurate half the time. The latter ranks 169th on the PGA Tour. Driving accuracy might be a reason Fox struggles for consistency this week.

Ryan Fox Debuts At Sanderson Farms Championship
6 months agoRyan Fox placed T61 at the BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour two weeks ago, marking a positive turnaround after missing the cut in his two previous events. Despite his recent inconsistency, Fox has delivered solid performances in 2024 with three top-10 finishes. It's worth noting that at last year's Sanderson Farms Championship, more than 30% of approach shots came from 100-150 yards. Over the past 12 months, Fox ranks in the 67th percentile in greens in regulation percentage on approach shots in the fairway from this distance. While Fox has shown flashes of brilliance this year, including him in DFS lineups entails some risk.
