1 year agoMemphis Grizzlies point guard Scotty Pippen Jr. (shin) will remain sidelined for Monday's meeting with the Kings. He couldn't play on Saturday versus OKC due to shin soreness and will continue to sit against Sacramento with the same issue. Pippen Jr. has played well when he's been available, but that hasn't happened too often lately. He had just missed a month of action with a back problem before hurting his left shin. With Desmond Bane now back in the lineup, there will be fewer opportunities for Pippen Jr., whose number of appearances has also been affected by his two-way contract.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

He is nursing a sore left wrist and has been ruled out for the contest after initially being considered questionable. Pippen Jr. has been among Memphis' most durable players and will be out for only the second time this season. Ja Morant (hamstring) is also sidelined, so the Grizzlies' backcourt will primarily depend on Desmond Bane and Luke Kennard. It appears Pippen suffered a left wrist injury during Saturday's contest. Despite that, Pippen finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and 11 assists across 29 minutes of action. Fellow guard Ja Morant (hamstring) has already been ruled out, so Pippen should see an extended look once again, assuming he's cleared to play. Otherwise, Luke Kennard and Desmond Bane could be asked to play significant minutes if both Morant and Pippen are out.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

Ja Morant (shoulder) is also questionable, so Pippen could be in line for more work versus the best team in the National Basketball Association. However, if Morant and Pippen are sidelined, Luke Kennard, who had 17 points, seven boards, and two steals in Monday's loss to the Hawks, should handle things at the one. With Jaren Jackson Jr. (ankle) week-to-week, Kennard would be a must-start if Morant and Pippen aren't on the floor.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

The 23-year-old spent time in the G League and the Los Angeles Lakers before ending up in Memphis last season. He appeared in 21 games for the Grizzlies, averaging 12.9 points and 4.7 assists. With Derrick Rose recently announcing his retirement, Pippen is now expected to operate as Ja Morant's backup this season.
