Kirk Cousins was arguably the biggest name of the 2024 NFL free agency period, and now he is ready to take the weak NFC South by storm as a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
However, Falcons fans should still be slightly worried considering that Cousins is coming back from a devastating Achilles injury. They're hoping that their star new acquisition can stay healthy and be under center for them in Week 1 of the 2024 season.

Kirk Cousins Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Cousins himself has recently stated that he's "optimistic" that he can be at full speed for practice before the summer. He says that he currently can drop back and make throws with no problem, but he is still working to regain his ability to leave the pocket.
With what's being said, it would be fair to assume that Cousins will participate in training camp at the end of July.

Record: 50-37-1
Total Yards: 23,265
Passing TDs: 171
Average Passer Rating: 101.2 pic.twitter.com/wTDrsJzQHH— NFL UK (@NFLUK) March 15, 2024
Through the first eight weeks of the 2023 NFL season, Cousins was ranked as the overall fantasy QB6 and was on pace to finish the season with the most passing yards (4953) and touchdowns (38) in the league.
His impressive numbers were the reason why the Falcons were willing to offer him a four-year, $180 million contract even though he'll be 36 next season and will be coming off of a devastating injury.
Will Kirk Cousins Be Ready for Week 1?
Considering all the positive news around his recovery, and the fact that he was reportedly ready to suit up for the Vikings had they made it to the Super Bowl, Cousins seems good to go for Week 1. With his arrival, the Falcons finally have a reliable passer again after Matt Ryan left the team in the 2022 offseason.

The Falcons haven't won the NFC South since 2016, they haven't made the playoffs since 2017, and they've gone 7-10 for three seasons in a row. During those three seasons, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reigned supreme over the division, and Cousins hopes that he can put the Falcons back on top once again.
