Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is one of the top players in the NFL. The superstar was part of an impressive 2020 NFL Draft class. Yet, he was the fifth wide receiver off the board.
Jefferson has been a superstar since his rookie year, making three consecutive Pro Bowl teams and All-Pro rosters to begin his career. His best season came in 2022, totaling 128 receptions on 184 targets for 1,809 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
The superstar receiver led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards that year. He also was the Offensive Player of the Year award winner. Unfortunately, Jefferson missed nearly half the 2023 season because of injuries. Yet, he still had over 1,000 receiving yards in only 10 games.

Will The Vikings Trade Justin Jefferson?
Last year, the Vikings and Jefferson had contract talks about a massive long-term deal. Unfortunately, the two sides couldn’t agree on terms, forcing the receiver to play last season with an extension. However, that likely won’t be the case this year with Jefferson heading into the final season of his rookie contract.
Minnesota lost Kirk Cousins in free agency, leaving the team with an underwhelming quarterback room. Jefferson will want to know the team’s plans for the quarterback position before signing a long-term deal. While some have speculated that the Vikings could trade the superstar this offseason, the team reportedly has no intention of trading away their top player.

Which Teams Could Trade For Justin Jefferson?
However, nothing is written in stone in the NFL. Every team in the league should want Jefferson on their roster. Yet, only a few could give Minnesota the compensation they would need for the superstar receiver and meet Jefferson’s requirements at quarterback and contract.
While everyone wants to see the former LSU star reunited with his college quarterback, Joe Burrow, and fellow star receiver, Ja'Marr Chase, that is unlikely to happen. Another team that has gotten floated as a landing spot for Jefferson is the Houston Texans.
If I was Justin Jefferson, I would give the Vikings a deadline for a contract extension and if it's not met, I would request a trade to the Houston Texans. @CBSSportsRadio pic.twitter.com/agsPSpU0Jr

The Texans can afford to make Jefferson the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. They can also make the Vikings an appealing offer for the superstar, sending back multiple first-round draft picks and either Nico Collins or Tank Dell. While Jefferson likely signs a long-term contract with Minnesota, imagine how much fun the Houston offense would be with the superstar receiver paired with C.J. Stroud for the next several years.
