9 months agoFollowing a top 10 performance last weekend at Las Vegas, Denny Hamlin backed it up Saturday afternoon by qualifying on the pole for Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. Even before practice and qualifying, Hamlin entered the weekend as one of the betting favorites (+900 on DraftKings Sportsbooks) likely due to his two previous wins and his 16 top-five finishes at this track. While his performance at Phoenix in the NextGen car is not quite as consistent as his overall history, he has finished in the top 10 in two of these four races, which shows he is still among the elite drivers on this course. With this said, despite his strong history at this track, what makes Hamlin even more enticing in DFS this weekend is his starting position. Since 2022, the pole sitter at Phoenix is averaging 97.48 DraftKings points and has appeared in the optimal lineup all four times. As a driver who has appeared in the top 10 in 59.5% of his Cup starts at this track, and given how well his starting position has fared here in recent years, Denny Hamlin becomes a core play in DFS this weekend. --Adam Erhardt - RotoBaller
