Alec Burleson To Get Starter Reps In Left Field
9 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Alec Burleson will get starter reps in left field while Lars Nootbaar (ribs) remains out of the lineup. Nootbaar's status for Opening Day is in doubt as Burleson could open the season for the club in left field. The 25-year-old hit .244 with eight homers, three stolen bases, and a .690 OPS across 107 appearances in the 2025 season, production that graded out 11% below the league average, as per his 89 wRC+. Even with fellow outfielder Tyler O'Neill traded to the Boston Red Sox this offseason, Burleson's playing time will take a hit once Nootbaar and Tommy Edman (wrist) return from their respective injuries. He remains off the fantasy radar but could be a decent short-term add if he's an everyday left fielder to open the season.
