Tomas Hertl Traded To Golden Knights
9 months agoThe Vegas Golden Knights have acquired center Tomas Hertl (knee) from the San Jose Sharks. The team gave up its 2025 first-round pick and prospect forward David Edstrom in a deal to get him while also receiving a 2025 third-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick from the Sharks. San Jose retains 17 percent of Hertl's salary as part of the trade. Hertl, a 17th pick by the Sharks in 2012, moves on from San Jose after representing the team in 712 regular-season contests. He had 218 goals and 484 points with the Sharks, including 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) in 48 appearances in 2023-24. Hertl hasn't played since the All-Star break due to a knee injury, and it's unclear when he will be ready to return, but he's a big addition for the defending champions, and his numbers should get a boost now that he's playing on a much better team.
