Junior Caminero Having A Quiet Spring
9 months agoTampa Bay Rays top prospect Junior Caminero isn't expected to make the Rays' Opening Day roster, nor is he pounding his way into it this spring. The 20-year-old went 1-for-3 in a 7-4 Grapefruit League loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday and is now 4-for-16 (.250) in the spring, including one home run. MLB's fourth overall prospect had a great minor league season last year but also skipped over Triple-A before making his big league debut. He'll begin the season at Triple-A, but has big power and can hit to all fields so expect to see him in Tampa at some point again in 2024. While with the big league club in 2023, he played in seven games at three different infield positions, although it seems he profiles best at third base. RotoBaller ranks the youngster at 217 overall, ahead of his NFBC ADP of 237.
