Ben An Trending Up Ahead Of Bay Hill
9 months agoBen An is arguably in the midst of his best stretch of golf since joining the PGA Tour in 2016. The 32-year-old South Korean is coming into the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the heels of twelve-straight made cuts, during which time he has finished inside of the top-25 seven times and inside of the top-10 four times. He's also gained strokes off-the-tee in 18 of his last 19 starts, with significant improvements being flashed in his short game in recent months. An profiles well for the tough test ahead at Bay Hill, as he ranks third in strokes gained off-the-tee, eighth in driving distance, 14th on approach from 150-175 yards, fifth in both opportunities gained and birdie-or-better percentage, and seventh in par 5 scoring on holes 450-500 yards long over the last 36 rounds. He's proven that he's capable of spike putting weeks, and while recent course history hasn't been anything to write home about, he did post a T14 finish here in 2018 and a T10 finish in 2019. In a year with several long-shot and first-time winners, there's no reason to doubt that An could find himself contending for his first PGA Tour victory over the weekend at Bay Hill.
