Tom Hoge In Great From Ahead Of Arnold Palmer Invitational
1 year agoTom Hoge has put together a string of great performances in the 2024 calendar year and finds himself currently sitting at 14th place in the FedExCup standings. The 34-year-old TCU alum enters Bay Hill on the heels of six-straight made cuts, including two top-10 finishes in his last four starts. Notorious for his iron play, Hoge hasn't lost strokes on approach in a PGA Tour event since the FedEx St. Jude Championship back in August of 2023. He also appears to have found something on the greens, as he's gained strokes putting in six-straight events. Hoge has missed the cut in two of his last five starts here which is likely to keep his ownership low. But fantasy managers should like what they see statistically over the last 36 rounds, as he projects to have the eighth-best adjusted course fit while ranking first on approach, inside of the top-20 in birdie-or-better percentage and opportunities gained, and sixth in scoring on par 3 holes longer than 200 yards. With an average short game week, Hoge could find himself contending for another top-10 finish over the weekend.

Tom Hoge Looks To Bounce Back After Missing Cut At WM Phoenix Open
2 months agoTom Hoge missed the cut at last week's Waste Management Phoenix Open, marking his first missed cut of the year. He struggled with all areas of his game and will be looking to bounce back at this week's Genesis Invitational, which is being held at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. Notably, Torrey Pines hosted the Farmers Insurance Open last month, where over 22% of approach shots were from over 200 yards. Over the past year, Hoge ranks in the 84th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots taken from the fairway at this distance. Despite his poor performance last week, Hoge might go overlooked this week and could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups.

Tom Hoge Looks To Keep The Momentum Going In Phoenix
2 months agoTom Hoge had a solid showing last week in Monterey. The 35-year-old continues to light up courses with elite iron play, gaining over 14 strokes on approach over his previous four starts. His weakness has been getting off the tee box as he ranks 168th on the young season in strokes gained off the tee (-0.556). That doesn't bode well for success at TPC Scottsdale, but the bright side for hopeful DFS players looking to add him to lineups is that he's gained strokes in this metric in his last two starts. At $9,000 on FanDuel, Hoge is a somewhat worthy play but beware of the limited ceiling.

Tom Hoge A Long Shot At American Express
3 months agoTom Hoge was thought to be a solid under-the-radar option at the Sony Open. Instead, Hoge faded in the later rounds as the American golfer finished tied for 45th. The second round was his undoing with a 71, and back-to-back 69s were not enough. Hoge managed to finished inside the top 10 at The Sentry, however. Also, Hoge ended up T17 at last year's American Express, highlighted by consecutive rounds of 65. Hoge is not very proficient off the tee and ranked 150th last year in strokes gained at minus-1.032. Hoge only drives the ball at 292 yards and typically gets into the fairway 58-59% of the time. He can make birdies, though. Hoge averaged 4.63 per round, which ranked 50th in 2024. That makes him a long shot this week.

Tom Hoge Tries To Keep Momentum Rolling In Hawaii
3 months agoTom Hoge did not enjoy his experience at the Sony Open last year. The American golfer missed the cut after an opening round 72 set him too far back in the field. It was one of only six cuts he missed in 30 tournaments. Hoge did not win in 2024 but he had four Top 10 finishes. Last week, Hoge scrambled his way inside the Top 10 (T-8th). After an opening round 64, he could not come close to duplicating that hot putter (68-68-69). Still, Hoge ended up gaining 0.787 strokes due to putting. Putts per round is interesting with the golfer. He starts well (28.46) and ends well (28.41) but loses around half a putt per round in the middle is problematic. Hoge must keep shots on line to increase his birdie chances beyond Round 1.
