Matt Brash Could Resume Throwing Next Week
10 months agoAn MRI exam on Seattle Mariners right-hander Matt Brash (elbow) confirmed that he's dealing with medial right-elbow inflammation, and he could resume throwing in camp next week, according to general manager Justin Hollander. It's great news after a recent report earlier this week suggested that Brash could be dealing with a serious arm injury. The 25-year-old was vital to Seattle's bullpen last year by going 9-4 with a league-leading 78 relief appearances. In 70 2/3 innings pitched in his second season in the big leagues, Brash had a strong 3.06 ERA (2.26 FIP), a 1.33 WHIP, his first four career saves, 29 walks and 107 strikeouts. Even though Brash's injury isn't serious, he'll still likely begin the year on the injured list. He had 25 holds in 2023 as well, so when healthy, Brash is certainly fantasy relevant despite his lack of save chances.
