Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that outfielder Jarren Duran (toe) will make his Grapefruit League debut on Friday as the designated hitter. The Red Sox are taking it slow with Duran after he had surgery last August to fix the flexor tendon in his left big toe, but he will make his debut heading into the weekend. If healthy, the 27-year-old will be an everyday starter in Boston's outfield after breaking out in 2023 before his toe injury. The left-handed hitter slashed .295/.346/.482 with an .828 OPS, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 332 at-bats. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect too much, too soon, but Duran is at least an excellent source of speed as a No. 3 outfielder in mixed leagues for 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran went 0-for-3 with an RBI and a strikeout in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Texas Rangers. The 28-year-old has scuffled a bit recently, going 1-for-16 over his last four outings. Duran's mini-slump comes after a hot stretch over the past few weeks in which he hit .317 (27-for-85) with at least one knock in 17 of 19 contests. He dealt with a cold spell in May of 2024 before he really turned it on in the summer months, so we know he's capable of bouncing back after a drought. Furthermore, he had out-produced his xBA over the last two years and is underperforming it right now, signaling he could rebound quickly. That tracks, considering his average exit velocity and hard-hit rates are better than they were last season, with a lower strikeout percentage (19.4%).--Alex Ciulla

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran was seemingly unstoppable at the plate during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. This was a great series for Duran who went 3-for-9 with a walk, triple, and two RBI during the doubleheader on Saturday. He returned on Sunday and went 4-for-6 with three singles, a double, and one RBI in the win. It's worth noting that Duran is currently on an 11-game hit streak at the plate. He got off to a bit of a slow start to the season, but has been heating up at the plate over the last few weeks.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran executed one of the most exciting plays in baseball during the second game of the Red Sox doubleheader in Cleveland. He pulled off the straight steal of home after hitting an RBI triple with two outs in the third inning against lefty Doug Nikhazy. Duran's triple was one of his three hits in the game, and he finished with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. In his 28 games this season, he now has nine stolen bases in 11 attempts and is hitting .256 with a .312 wOBA. He has shown he can be a huge catalyst at the top of Boston's batting order, and he'll continue to be a productive leadoff option that is a threat for both stepped and power production.--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran went 1-for-3 with a home run and a steal in his team's 7-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The former seventh-round pick scored twice, walked twice, and drove in two runs. It was Duran's first long ball of the year, as he's off to a sluggish start after batting .285 or better over the prior two seasons. The 28-year-old is up to a .234 average with six steals, eight runs scored, and ten RBI. He's logged a hit in three straight games -- the first time he's done so all season -- so it's possible that his bat is beginning to wake up. As a reminder, Duran hit .236 in May last season and followed it up with a blistering June in which he held a .360 average over 111 at-bats.--Alex Ciulla
