According to Ethan Sears of the New York Post, New York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield (lower body) exited early during their victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday evening. Mayfield sustained this injury during the second period. Before exiting, he logged just over 10 minutes of ice time with one blocked shot. Over his previous six games, Mayfield has averaged 2.5 blocked shots per game but has been held off the scoresheet. Overall, the 32-year-old has scored two goals and added five helpers with a +14 rating over 50 games. He has logged 71 hits and 87 blocked shots. If Mayfield were to sit out on Sunday evening when the Islanders face the Florida Panthers, fantasy managers should expect Dennis Cholowski to enter the starting lineup.

New York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield (illness) will jump back into action on Thursday against Chicago. He was forced to skip Tuesday's meeting with Los Angeles because of an illness. Mayfield's offensive production has been limited to five points (one goal, four assists), but he enjoys doing the dirty work. In 29 appearances, Mayfield has delivered 53 hits while registering 58 blocks, which ranks him third on the team. The 32-year-old will work alongside Isaiah George on the third defensive pairing, with Grant Hutton exiting the lineup.
