9 months agoZane Smith can draw on his experiences with the NASCAR Trucks series. The Spire Motorsports driver won at Daytona driving the trucks twice in a row. His No. 71 car will start 14th for the Daytona 500. Smith survived the wrecks well during the second Bluegreen Vacations Duel. A 2.5-mile superspeedway like Daytona sometimes is more about avoiding wrecks and getting lucky. Sometimes it is the skill of drafting. The trucks ran 106 laps in 2022.
