Yankees Haven't Had Extension Talks With Gleyber Torres
10 months agoNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that the team has not had any extension talks with second baseman Gleyber Torres, noting that he is their second baseman "for this season." Torres is in the final year of his deal and will become a free agent after the 2024 season if the two sides don't reach a long-term extension. The 27-year-old was a bright spot for the Yankees last year, slashing .273/.347/.453 with 25 home runs, 68 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 90 runs scored in 672 trips to the plate. He managed to lower his strikeout rate considerably and has now reached the 24-homer mark in four of his last five full seasons, which is an achievement for a second baseman. Regardless of whether he remains in New York beyond this year, Torres will be a solid second base target in fantasy in what should be a more productive Yankees lineup.
