Joey Wentz To Work As A Reliever In Camp
10 months agoDetroit Tigers pitcher Joey Wentz will be working as a reliever in spring training rather than stretching out as a starter. It's a big spring for the left-hander as Wentz is out of minor league options, meaning he will either have to crack the club's bullpen out of camp or likely be cut loose from the 40-man roster. Wentz struggled mightily in the 2023 season as he worked to a 6.90 ERA across 25 outings (19 starts) with the Tigers while also tossing a 4.40 ERA across six starts with Triple-A Toledo. He was much better in the 2022 season when he posted a 3.03 ERA in seven starts with the Tigers alongside a 3.17 ERA in 12 outings (11 starts) at the Triple-A level. Once a promising prospect, Wentz's fantasy value is non-existent.
