Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones is one of the top players in the league. The superstar is arguably the top lineman and overall defensive player in the NFL despite not playing a traditionally premium position.
Jones had an outstanding 2023 season, totaling 10.5 sacks in 16 games. The former Mississippi State star has had double-digit sacks three times in his career, including back-to-back seasons. Furthermore, he had made an All-Pro team five times, including first-team in two consecutive years.
While the superstar is one of the top players in the NFL, the Chiefs will have a decision to make this offseason about Jones.

Is Chris Jones A Free Agent In 2024?
The former Mississippi star signed a four-year deal worth $80 million that started in the 2020 season. Jones didn’t show up to training camp and sat out the Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions over not getting a contract extension.
Thankfully, the superstar and the Chiefs agreed on a revised one-year deal. However, Jones is a free agent this offseason, and the team must decide his future. He turns 30 during the offseason and will command a significant long-term contract.
Earlier today, the defensive lineman announced at the team’s Super Bowl parade that he would return next year.
Which Team Will Sign Chris Jones In The Offseason?
While Jones loudly told the crowd at the Super Bowl parade that he would be back in 2024 and beyond, his agent wasn’t very happy about the decision. Agent Michael J. Katz joked on social media that the defensive lineman had too much to drink.
Hopefully, Jones will return to Kansas City for years to come. However, he will have suitors on the open market. The two teams that could sign the superstar defensive lineman are the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions. Both teams have significant cap space this offseason.
The Texans have an emerging star pass rusher in Will Anderson Jr. The former Alabama star won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. While he is a legitimate No. 1 pass rusher, Houston would love the idea of pairing him with Jones for the next few years.
Similarly, the Lions have a young star pass rusher in Aidan Hutchinson. While the former Michigan star is already one of the top pass rushers in the NFL, Detroit lacks a clear-cut No. 2 guy on their defensive line. Pairing Jones with Hutchinson would give opposing offensive lines nightmares.
