The San Francisco 49ers may utilize the NFL Draft better than any franchise in the NFL. With several compensatory picks, San Francisco casts a wide net for prospects which helps them hit on late-round gems.
This team will be competing for a Super Bowl again in 2024 and they were seemingly one player away from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Targeting the correct players and roster management has never been more crucial.
What draft picks do the 49ers have in the 2024 NFL Draft? Who could they target in the first round? Let's dive in.

What Draft Picks Do The San Francisco 49ers Own?
The San Francisco 49ers own 11 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, including two toward the tail end of the third round. Their first selection, barring a trade, will be 31st overall.
After the first round, they'll select 63rd overall with their second-round pick. The 49ers also pick 94th and 98th (third round), 124th and 131st (fourth round), 175th (fifth round), 208th, 213th and 214th (sixth round), and 248th (seventh round).
Four of their picks are compensatory selections, headlined by losing coach DeMeco Ryans to the Texans. San Francisco owned five compensatory picks but dealt one, a third-rounder, to Washington as part of the deal to acquire defensive end Chase Young.
Who Could The San Francisco 49ers Draft In The First Round?
With an embarrassment of riches across the roster, Super Bowl-contending teams like the 49ers tend to select the best player available or find a young player to replace an aging veteran or outgoing free agent.
The 49ers have their stars locked up. Nick Bosa, Trent Williams, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Christian McCaffrey, Fred Warner, and Brock Purdy are all under contract. Aiyuk and Purdy are cheap, still playing on their rookie deals.
Defensive end Chase Young, guard Jon Feliciano, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, and safety Tashaun Gipson are the biggest names on the free agent list. Considering team brass surrendered a third-round pick in the trade for Young, it seems likely that they will try to ink him to a new deal. San Francisco declined the fifth-year option for Kinlaw heading into 2023 but he put together a solid season.
Gipson, on the other hand, will be 34 when the next season begins. The team could opt to draft Iowa cornerback/safety Cooper DeJean or Georgia safety Javon Bullard to be his replacement. It's also hard to go wrong with any pick in the trenches to add depth or a potential starter to the offensive or defensive line.
