9 months agoNew Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes (upper body) will return to the lineup for Thursday's home game versus the Calgary Flames. The young pivot has missed the past 11 games after suffering an upper-body injury in a 5-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 5. He has been skating with the team in recent days but was not cleared for game action until Thursday. "Yeah, excited. Ready to get back out there," Hughes said following the Devils' morning skate on Thursday. The former No. 1 overall pick broke out with 43 goals and 99 points across 78 games last season and has 15 goals and 45 points across 32 games this time around. The Devils need wins, as they currently sit at 25-20-3 and five points back of the Red Wings for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.--Brenton Kemp
