Kansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon was a key contributor to the 2022 team that took home Super Bowl LVII rings. He wasn't involved as much early in the 2023 season, and he suffered an injury that has sidelined him for several weeks.
However, the veteran could return in time to play in Super Bowl LVIII, and the Chiefs are often unpredictable on offense and can choose to feature any player at any time. That said, McKinnon's game status is worth monitoring.
Is McKinnon playing in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers? What is his DFS outlook if he suits up? Let's dive into those questions.

Jerick McKinnon Injury Update for Super Bowl 58
McKinnon (hernia/pelvis) was designated to return from injured reserve over the weekend, but head coach Andy Reid said he is unlikely to be officially activated in time to play in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers. McKinnon underwent sports hernia surgery and had another procedure to fix his fractured pelvis after being placed on IR in late December.

If he cannot play, he'll end his 2023 season with just 21 carries for 60 yards and a rushing touchdown to go along with 25 receptions for 192 yards and four receiving scores. Last year, he racked up 803 total yards and 10 total touchdowns.
Jerick McKinnon DraftKings/FanDuel DFS Outlook
If McKinnon surprisingly plays, he's not worth much consideration in DFS contests. He's listed at just $200 on DraftKings and $6,000 on FanDuel, so his only value is as a punt play on DK. If he's out as expected, Clyde Edwards-Helaire has some appeal in DFS, but the Chiefs are likely to lean on Isiah Pacheco heavily in the running game. Pacheco has been dealing with a toe injury, but he's fully expected to be ready to go.
Ultimately, Pacheco has taken over the workhorse role, so McKinnon nor CEH are anywhere close to safe bets.
