Tua Tagovailoa Expects To Sign Extension This Offseason
10 months agoMiami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who is coming off a career-best year in 2023, expects to sign a long-term contract extension with the team this offseason, he told reporters on Friday. "There's been communication," Tagovailoa. "I think the thing with that right now is I'm just letting the team talk to my agent and let them work that out." He is entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2024 after leading the NFL with 4,624 passing yards while also setting career-highs with 29 touchdown passes and 17 games played. It was the first time he played in a full season in his four-year career. The Dolphins brass has long been supportive of him publicly and picked up his fifth-year option last year. The fact that the Dolphins are around $51 million over the salary cap entering the offseason with critical decisions to make on other star players on the team makes extending Tagovailoa a bit more tricky.
