Austin Cindric Should Benefit From Increased Ford Speed
10 months agoAustin Cindric was one of NASCAR's biggest disappointments in 2023, as he followed up a Daytona 500 win and playoff bid as a rookie with only a single top-five and a dismal 24th-place points finish in a year his teammate Ryan Blaney won the title. While Cindric is average, at best, he should perform better in 2024 since the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse is expected to be faster than last year's Mustang. In the Xfinity Series, Cindric performed best on intermediate speedways and road courses, and those were the tracks where the Fords seemed to be slowest last year. If the new Mustang is faster on those tracks, Cindric should be more consistent than he was in 2023, but he still leads too few laps to be expected to win anywhere and he will probably fall just short of a second playoff bid on points.
