Antonio Pierce The Leading Candidate For Raiders Full-Time Job
11 months agoLas Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce has emerged as the leading candidate to become the team's full-time head coach with the support of key players there, according to league sources. There will be other options for Raiders owner Mark Davis to consider, but as one source said, "I would be blown away if Antonio weren't the pick." All-Pro pass-rusher Maxx Crosby reportedly is set to request a trade from the organization if the Raiders pass on keeping Pierce as their full-time head coach. Pierce took over for Josh McDaniels, who was fired midseason, and the team finished 5-4 under Pierce. In addition to Crosby, receiver Davante Adams has been vocal in his support of Pierce to stick around in the head-coaching position. Pierce played linebacker in the NFL from 2001-09, with his later years including a Super Bowl championship with the New York Giants.
