Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Last week, Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire missed his second game of the season, sitting out of the team's game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an illness. With Edwards-Helaire sidelined, Isiah Pacheco saw all 18 carries for running backs. La'Mical Perine played four snaps as the backup running back.
Edwards-Helaire is off the injury report and back at practice, so fantasy managers should anticipate him playing in Week 18 against the Chargers.
The former first-round pick has 68 carries for 222 yards and a touchdown this season. In his most recent game on Christmas Day against the Raiders, CEH had four carries for six yards and three catches for 42 yards.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire Fantasy Football Outlook
The Chiefs are locked into the No. 3 seed in the AFC, so fantasy managers have some interesting questions about this team for Week 18. The Chiefs have already announced that quarterback Patrick Mahomes won't play, so could we also see Isiah Pacheco sit?
Considering Pacheco was limited in practice to start the week with a quad/shoulder designation, there's a definite chance that Pacheco will sit on Sunday. That could mean a larger role for Edwards-Helaire against the Chargers, making him an intriguing flex option for fantasy managers who are in need of an emergency play on a slate where many top players won't be out on the football field because of the number of meaningless Week 18 NFL games.
