New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara trials only Christian McCaffrey and Kyren Williams in PPR fantasy points per game among running backs. The veteran has remained an elite pass-catcher at the position, which keeps him as a high-end fantasy option despite lackluster rushing numbers.
Unfortunately, he was banged up in the Week 17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which could mean he's in danger of missing Week 18. There are still plenty of fantasy managers and DFS gamers who are playing for something in the final week of the regular season, so his status for Sunday is important.
Will Kamara play against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 18? What is his fantasy football outlook if he's healthy enough to take the field? Let's examine both questions below.

Alvin Kamara Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Kamara (ankle) is truly day-to-day after spraining his ankle in Week 17, according to sources. He'll have a chance to play in Week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Jan. 7, but it's too early right now to know for sure.
The Saints and fantasy managers should have a better idea of if Kamara can play this weekend after they get in a few practices, starting on Wednesday. If it's a high-ankle sprain, the 28-year-old would be unlikely to play a week later. But in a must-win game in order to make it into the playoffs, perhaps Kamara will suit up at less than 100 percent.
Alvin Kamara Fantasy Football Outlook
Despite the Falcons allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to running back this year, Kamara remains a must-start in all matchups. As mentioned earlier, only Christian McCaffrey and Kyren Williams have been better on a per-game basis than Kamara. He still possesses elite upside and is one of the rare workhorses in the NFL.
Although his ankle injury could slow him, the Saints are likely to take their chances with a potential playoff berth on the line. If he can't suit up, Jamaal Williams will likely have a bell cow role, though he'd have limited upside.
