BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: TE1
ANALYSIS: Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson has been a pleasant surprise this season. The second-year tight end had low expectations despite the team losing Dalton Schultz in free agency. While some considered him a sleeper candidate, no one expected Ferguson to be a borderline plug-and-play TE1 this year.
The former Wisconsin star is the TE8 for the season, averaging 8.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He hasn’t been the most consistent player, but the second-year player has seen a reliable target share lately. The tight end has seen eight targets in four consecutive games, averaging 10.7 fantasy points per contest.
Ferguson’s play this year hasn’t gone unnoticed. Despite being a sophomore player with limited production as a rookie, the young tight end has earned the respect of many around the NFL, including Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
Tomorrow, Ferguson faces Campbell’s team in a prime-time matchup. The Lions have surrendered 10.9 fantasy points per game to tight ends, the eighth-most in the NFL. They have given up double-digit fantasy points to opposing tight ends in three of their past four games.
Fantasy players should start Ferguson with confidence this week. He is a critical part of an explosive Dallas passing attack. Furthermore, the tight end has a fantasy-friendly matchup.
