Giants Still Looking To Add Big Names In Free Agency
11 months agoThe San Francisco Giants missed out on Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in free agency, both of whom ended up with the rival Dodgers, but they remain interested in some of the biggest names available such as Blake Snell, Cody Bellinger, and Matt Chapman. The club did ink Korean outfielder Jung Hoo Lee this winter but is still hunting for upgrades on the offensive side of the baseball. Bellinger is coming off of a big rebound season on a one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs. Snell took down the NL Cy Young Award on the back of a 2.25 ERA across 32 starts with the Padres in 2023. Chapman's bat tailed off as the season moved along but he still posted excellent defensive metrics while his 110 wRC+ at the dish last season was 10% above the league average. The Giants have also been connected to Japanese free agent pitcher Shota Imanaga.
