Trevor Lawrence Injury Update
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) suffered a sprained right shoulder during Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. An MRI on Monday confirmed the diagnosis. Fortunately, the injury isn't considered "major," although it's unknown if he'll miss time. The signal-caller has battled countless ailments throughout the 2023-24 campaign, including an ankle injury suffered in the overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
He also entered Week 16 with a questionable tag because of a concussion. Yet, Lawrence hasn't missed a game all season, so it would be surprising if he didn't suit up in Week 17 versus the Carolina Panthers. However, the 24-year-old hasn't been consistently reliable this season, so he may not be the best fantasy option in Week 17, even with a favorable matchup on the horizon.
Jaylen Waddle Injury Update
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (ankle) finished Sunday's two-point win over the Cowboys by catching one of his four targets for 50 yards. Unfortunately, the wideout suffered a high-ankle sprain during the contest, as reported by head coach Mike McDaniel. As a result, Waddle could miss time, which isn't an ideal scenario, considering the Dolphins face the Ravens in Week 17 before closing out the regular season versus the Buffalo Bills.
Of course, Tyreek Hill should absorb some of Waddle's targets. At the same time, tight end Durham Smythe, who had five receptions for 56 yards versus Dallas in Week 16, may see an uptick in production. Nonetheless, there should be another update on Waddle's health in the next day or two.
Isiah Pacheco Injury Update
Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco (head) was ruled out of the game against the Las Vegas Raiders with a concussion. Pacheco took a knee to the head late in the game after his helmet came off, and is now in the NFL's concussion protocol.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire will likely be a popular Week 17 waiver wire pickup if Pacheco can't make it back for next week's game. Stay tuned for further updates on Pacheco as more information becomes available.
T.J. Hockenson Injury Update
Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee) was ruled out early from Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. The big tight end took a hit to the knee during the beginning of the third quarter. It didn't take long for the Vikings' medical staff to rule out Hockenson for the rest of the day. Hockenson is a game-changing tight end for fantasy football, so his status should be monitored ahead of Week 17.
Jordan Addison Injury Update
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison (ankle) was ruled out early from Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. The rookie wideout was questionable to return after suffering an ankle injury in the first half. The Vikings decided to play it safe and sit Addison for the rest of this game. Fantasy managers will need to monitor his status heading into a matchup with the Green Bay Packers in Week 17.
Courtland Sutton Injury Update
Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton did not return after exiting on Sunday against the New England Patriots due to a concussion. Sutton has been the main contributor in the passing game and has been the most consistent offensive player to find the end zone for the Broncos. Head injuries, whether it's a concussion or not, usually hold players out more often than not, so this is a bit of a worrisome injury at the moment.
Fantasy managers will want to check back during the week to see how long Sutton will be out as he goes through concussion protocol.
