Andre Jackson Designated For Assignment By Pirates
12 months agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates have designated pitcher Andre Jackson for assignment. The right-hander was originally a Dodgers draft pick but was dealt to the Pirates during the 2023 season for cash considerations. He made 19 appearances (seven starts) between the Dodgers and Pirates in 2023, working to a 4.99 ERA across 61 1/3 innings of work but he also tossed a fairly solid 4.30 SIERA in that time. Jackson's foremost issue is the long ball as he allowed 1.61 home runs per nine innings last season and owns a 1.31 HR/9 in his big league career. In 26 appearances (seven starts) in the majors, Jackson has posted a decent 4.25 ERA in 82 2/3 innings of work. He should be able to latch on with another club, at least on a minor-league deal, this winter.
