BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR2
ANALYSIS: Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper is the WR27 for the year, averaging 10.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Cooper had been in a slump lately, averaging 5.5 fantasy points per game over the past four contests before the Week 15 matchup against the Chicago Bears, totaling 9.2 or fewer every week.
The star wide receiver had four receptions on eight targets for 109 receiving yards, a touchdown, and 18.9 fantasy points in Week 15. However, his fantasy performance would have been drastically different without one big play. Cooper had a 51-yard receiving touchdown late in the fourth quarter. The pass should have been an interception, and Cooper should have fallen out of bounds after making the catch.
While luck is part of the game, fantasy players should realize that one play accounted for over 60% of Cooper’s fantasy production against the Bears. This week, the veteran wide receiver has a solid matchup against the Houston Texans. The AFC South team has surrendered 25.8 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, slightly below the league average.
Fantasy players should consider Cooper a startable but risky WR2. He has struggled to connect with Joe Flacco outside of the wild touchdown reception last week. Yet, the receiver has had 22 targets over the past two weeks, the most on the team.
