BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: New England Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott has been a solid fantasy football running back lately. Over the past three weeks, he has averaged 22 touches for 92.7 scrimmage yards and 13.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
The veteran was outstanding in Week 14. Elliott had 29 touches for 140 scrimmage yards and 23.5 fantasy points in the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, he had 16 touches for 46 scrimmage yards and only 7.1 fantasy points last week.
Elliott has been filling in as the starter with Rhamondre Stevenson dealing with a high ankle sprain. While some had hoped the third-year player would play this week, Stevenson didn’t practice on Wednesday and looks to be on his way to missing a third straight contest.
Assuming Stevenson doesn’t play on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, Elliott will have the featured workload in a fantasy-friendly matchup. The Broncos have surrendered 26.6 fantasy points per game to running backs, the second-most in the NFL. Last week, they had no answers for the Detroit Lions’ backfield, giving up 6.6 yards per rushing attempt and 33 fantasy points in the loss.
Fantasy players should start Elliott as an RB2 this week, assuming Stevenson doesn’t play. If Stevenson can play this weekend, Elliott is a decent flex option.
