Jalen Hurts Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Illnesses are tricky ailments to judge when it comes to trying to predict if someone can play through it or not. The fact that the Eagles decided to downgrade him to questionable after originally expecting him to play through it isn't a good sign. On top of that, he's traveling completely separate from the rest of the team so that he doesn't get anyone else sick.
This time around seems like a legitimate game-time decision. The Eagles will likely wait until Monday morning to see how he feels and if he can hydrate enough to play at a high level. Fantasy managers depending on Hurts will want to pick up Marcus Mariota just in case a backup plan is needed.
Jalen Hurts Fantasy Football Outlook
Hurts and the Eagles offense have struggled mightily over the last two games. They've been in the gauntlet after facing two of the toughest defenses in the league in the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. Over the past two games, they've been outscored 75-32 and have turned the ball over three times.
If Hurts can suit up on Monday night, the good thing is that he'll take on the 21st-ranked defense against opposing quarterbacks. The Seahawks have given up 22.8 fantasy points per game to signal-callers, which is 11.4% higher than the league average. To make matters even better, Hurts has scored 34.7% higher than the league average over the last three weeks in fantasy points per game and 27.3% higher over the last five weeks.
The bottom line is that Hurts remains questionable and there hasn't been any hints or word that he's leaning towards playing or sitting. If he plays, he still should be considered a QB1 due to his high upside with passing weapons and the run game. If he doesn't, Marcus Mariota is more of a higher-end QB2 since he has been able to put up some bigger games throughout his career but hasn't started since Week 13 of the 2022 season.
